Fritz Walter opened the scoring for Stuttgart in the twenty-fourth minute and they held that lead until twelve minutes into the second half, when Rod Wallace levelled. Two minutes later David Rocastle won the game for the home side. For Leeds, David Batty replaced Scott Sellars at Right Back and Eric Cantona replaced David Rocastle at Outside Right. Gerald Ashby of Worcester was the referee.
